Investment Promotion Unit was set up vide Fisheries Department order No.2435-Fish/C-VI/4E-16/2014 dt.10.9.14 to address issues pertinent to private investment in fisheries in West Bengal. It started functioning from 20.10.2014 and since then is playing a pivotal role in the development, growth and facilitation of fish based industries and investments in the state.

IPU in the Fisheries Department has successfully participated in all the six editions of the Bengal Global Business Summits (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022). These events witnessed the signing of a total number of 85 MoUs with an estimated investment of Rs. 2425.41 crores in the fisheries sector.
